Smart idea. In the 1960s the US had a number of scholarship schemes eg Fulbright to give people a taste of the country. My uncle was one such scholar .. what he experienced there, he brought home and shared, it coloured his life, and ours too.

Hey Abbey, simply sharing that I appreciate your excellent take and analysis on such a broad spectrum. Your professionalism and communication of such is for sure off the charts. Then on top of all that you take your valuable time responding to peeps comments. Even (in my opinion)-some with slightly hi ignorance.

Your expertise and sharing of such is deeply appreciated.

Sincerely,

Tim

Fear from the rulers to loose their power! Transparency and truth are not a good thing for corruption…..

The magacult may have hijacked the US, bit the CCP is still as evil as it is ànd using the Mandarin institutes to control Chinese students overseas. As long as the CCP rules China, I won’t go there. We (Europe) just have an ally less & an extra rival that tries to divide the liberal democracies and use the rule of force instead of rule of law.

Your last statement, China becoming the world leader they deserve to be, ignores the fact that the US is now ceding that role like it's got cooties.

In the 1950s, Japanese manufacturing quality was a joke. A generation later, they became the world standard. I'm not surprised to hear the same is happening with China.

The question is whether the Chinese government can avoid physical empire building. Empire building spells war. Russia has given us an example of how an incompetent government can destroy itself by ignoring the rot that took the myth of second greatest military in the world and turned it into the reality of second best army in Ukraine.

I suspect China would prove far more lethal if they chose to engage the US in an active war. But I also suspect that Xi Ping is too astute to miss the fact that Trump's has given him the opportunity to win the title/role of world leader without firing a single shot. At least, that is, if he drops the Taiwan obsession.
